Sports and score types
Torneyo isn't only football: each sport group has its own match sheet, score and standings.
Every sport belongs to a group, and the group decides how a match is recorded and how standings are calculated. There’s no point forcing volleyball into a goals scoreboard.
The 12 groups
| Group | How scoring works | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Team, goals | goals for each side | football, futsal, handball |
| Team, points | running points | basketball, rugby |
| Sets | sets and games | volleyball, beach volleyball |
| Racket | sets/games, singles or doubles | tennis, padel, beach tennis |
| Combat | rounds and bouts | judo, boxing, MMA, jiu-jitsu |
| Time or distance | time or distance | swimming, athletics |
| Artistic score | judges’ marks | gymnastics, artistic swimming |
| Precision | points per target | archery, darts, snooker |
| Chess / Swiss | Swiss format | chess, backgammon |
| Team esports | matches per team | CS2, LoL, Valorant |
| Battle royale | placement and kills | Fortnite, Free Fire |
| Cards and tabletop | matches per round | card games, Magic, Hearthstone |
What changes in practice
The group determines three things at once:
- The entry screen — in volleyball you enter sets; in swimming, times; in battle royale, placement and kills.
- The match sheet — available events change. A card makes sense in football, not in archery.
- The standings — tiebreakers differ. Goal difference doesn’t exist in artistic scoring.
Choosing the sport
The sport is set when the tournament is created, and it isn’t a decorative label: it changes the working interface of the whole competition.
Warning Pick the right sport before generating fixtures. Changing later changes how scores are entered, and results already recorded in the previous format don’t convert themselves.
What if my sport isn’t listed?
Pick the group closest to how scoring works, not to the name of the sport.
Footvolley, for instance, isn’t listed by name — but it’s played in sets, so the sets group works. A snooker tournament fits precision. The right question is always “how is the result counted?”.
Frequently asked
Can I have different sports in the same organization? Yes. Each tournament has its own.
What about categories inside one tournament? Categories split the competition (U15, Women’s), but share the tournament’s sport.
Does battle royale work with placement scoring? Yes — that’s exactly why the group exists, instead of forcing win/loss.
