AI that acts: voice, rulebook and roster

Beyond answering questions and suggesting text, Torneyo’s AI can also carry out tasks — always following the same path: propose → review → confirm. Nothing is saved until you review it and press confirm.

These features sit behind the Actions toggle in the organization’s AI settings, and only appear to people with manager, administrator or owner roles. See Set up your organization’s AI.

Conversation mode: propose, review, confirm

In the assistant (the robot icon in the corner of the screen), besides asking questions you can request actions such as “move Saturday’s match to Sunday”, “open registration for two more teams” or “generate the next round”. The AI understands the request and returns a review card showing what will change — it never applies the change directly.

The card shows the affected fields before and after (for example, a match’s date and time) and two buttons: Confirm and Cancel. Only after confirming is the change saved, the same way as if you had edited it manually on the screen.

If a request is ambiguous — “move Saturday’s match” when there are three matches on Saturday — the AI asks which match before building the card, instead of guessing.

Voice score entry

In Simple Mode on the matches screen, the Enter by voice button turns on your browser’s microphone. Narrate what happened — “2 to 1 for the home team, goal by John at minute 10, goal by Peter at minute 25, own goal by the away team at minute 40” — and the AI builds the score and match events.

Audio never leaves your device. Transcription uses the browser’s Web Speech API; only the already-transcribed text is sent to the AI to build the score.

Before recording, the AI checks anything that does not line up:

• Homonym — two players with similar names on the same team: it asks which one.
• Goal without a scorer — if you only say the score, it asks for the scorer of each goal (or lets you skip, if the championship does not track detailed events).
• Anything else that does not match the expected match sheet.

The review card shows Home and Away, the score and the list of events in order, before the Confirm button. For a round with several matches, Confirm the whole round reviews and saves the narrated matches one by one, without reopening each screen.

Note Detailed events (goal scorer, assist, cards) only exist in sports that track goals or points per player. In sports without that level of detail, voice entry only sets the final score.

Paste roster (AI)

When registering a team’s roster, the Paste roster (AI) button opens a free-text field. Paste the list of players just as it is in the WhatsApp group or a spreadsheet — name, jersey number, position, one line per player, in whatever order.

The AI organizes it into an editable table with name, jersey number, position and date of birth, and runs three checks before you confirm:

1. Cross-checks against athletes already registered in the organization, to avoid duplicating profiles.
2. Checks the age range of the category, flagging anyone outside the allowed age.
3. Warns if the total exceeds your plan’s athlete limit.

You can freely adjust the table before confirming — nothing is created until then. See also Register teams and squads.

Start from your rulebook

In the tournament creation wizard, the Start from your rulebook option accepts a PDF, DOCX or TXT file up to 10 MB. The text is extracted on the server — only the document’s text goes to the AI model, never the original file.

From the rulebook, the AI proposes a competition format, categories, phases, registration rules and tiebreaker criteria, citing the rulebook article each suggestion came from. You review every field before creating the championship — it is a filled-in starting point, not an automatic creation.

Explain with AI on the standings

On the standings table, the Explain with AI button describes the current situation in plain text: who is qualified, who is fighting for the last spot and which tiebreaker applies. Handy to share with players and fans without everyone having to decode the table.

Voice dictation in text fields

Besides score entry, long text fields (championship description, text rulebook, feed post, news article) have a microphone icon to dictate instead of type. Dictated text lands in the field as an editable draft — it is not sent anywhere until you save the form, just like typed text.

Round summary

Once a round’s matches are closed, a manager can generate a Round summary: a text with the main results, top scorers and highlights, ready to paste into the organization’s WhatsApp group or publish as championship news inside Torneyo. A preview appears before sending — the manager decides whether to send, edit or discard it.

Requirements and limitations

• Role required: actions (conversation mode, voice entry, paste roster, round summary) require manager, administrator or owner role in the organization. Someone who only follows a championship (referee, athlete) does not see these buttons.
• “Actions” toggle: the administrator can turn actions off under AI settings and keep only the assistant and text suggestions. See Set up your organization’s AI.
• Browser for voice: voice recognition uses the Web Speech API, available on Chrome, Edge and the default Android browser. Safari and Firefox are not yet supported.
• Events by sport: goal scorer, assists and cards only exist in sports with a goal/point-based score. In sports without that detail, the card shows only the final score.
• Token quota: actions consume the same monthly AI quota as the organization (or its own key, if configured). See Plans, limits and upgrades.

Privacy

The rulebook file is not stored beyond the text extraction needed for the proposal, and microphone audio never leaves your device — only the text transcription reaches the AI. The same personal-data filters used by the assistant and suggestions apply here. Details in Privacy and Data Protection.
