Digital match sheet step by step

The digital match sheet replaces the paper one. You record everything on your phone during the match and, once you close it, standings, top scorers and cards are already up to date.

Before kick-off

Open the fixture from the stage’s fixture list. Check two things:

• Are the teams right? If the fixture was rescheduled or swapped, fix it before you begin.
• Are the squads complete? An unregistered athlete can’t be named. You can register one on the spot from the selector, but it’s calmer to sort it out beforehand.

Line-up

Mark who starts and who’s on the bench. Anyone not on the team sheet won’t appear in the goal and card options during the match — that’s the safeguard against logging an event for someone who didn’t play.

If a player turns up late and isn’t on the list, you can add them with the match in progress.

During the match

The recording screen has one action per event type:

• Goal — pick the team and the scorer. An own goal is marked as such and counts toward the opponent’s score, without entering anyone’s scoring tally.
• Yellow and red card — pick the athlete. The system accumulates cards across the tournament and flags automatic suspension on accumulation.
• Substitution — who comes off and who comes on.

Each event asks for the minute. If you didn’t note it, leave it blank — the event is recorded anyway and the score is unaffected.

Tip Pitchside, in a hurry, record only what matters: goals and cards. Substitutions and minutes you can fill in later at a computer. The score and standings depend on goals alone.

Closing the match

When you finish, check the score and confirm. From then on:

• The stage standings are recalculated — points, wins, goal difference, goals scored.
• The scoring charts add the match’s goals.
• Cards join the running total and trigger a suspension where applicable.
• In a knockout stage, the winner advances to the next tie.

Fixing things afterwards

Mistakes happen. While the fixture is still open for editing, you can remove or adjust any event and the recalculation is immediate.

Warning Correcting the score of a closed fixture affects the whole stage’s standings and may change who qualified. Make the correction as early as you can and tell the people involved.

Following live

If the tournament is public, every goal you record shows up on the fixture’s public page within seconds. People who aren’t there follow along by link, no account needed.

It’s the same link you drop in the competition’s WhatsApp group.

Working offline

A sports hall with no signal is the rule, not the exception. If the connection drops mid-match, keep recording: events queue on the device and upload themselves once signal returns.

Just don’t close the tab before syncing finishes.
