Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a tournament entry fee?
Add up all the costs (referees, venue, trophies, prizes and other), subtract other income such as sponsorship and ticket sales, and divide what is left by the number of teams. That is the break-even. For breathing room, add a 10% to 20% safety margin to the costs before dividing.
How many games does each format have?
A single-leg round robin has n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 games, and double that home and away. A knockout with n teams has n − 1 games, plus one if there is a third-place match. For groups plus knockout, add the games of each group and the knockout among the qualifiers.
What happens if teams drop out?
Entry income falls, but much of the cost stays the same. The sensitivity table shows the final balance if up to 3 teams are missing, keeping the planned costs. That is why it pays to charge with a safety margin or collect payment before the start.
Is this calculator financial advice?
No. It is a simple estimate run in your browser, with no data sent, based on the numbers you type. It does not track registrations, payments or the tournament cash flow.
